Helps address a possible loan balance deficiencyGAP may help waive the difference between the amount you owe your finance company and the amount paid by your automobile insurer if your vehicle is stolen or declared a total loss.
GAP may be especially useful when you:
- Make a small down payment
- Finance for 60, 72, or 84 months
- Include prior negative equity in the new loan
- Purchase a vehicle that depreciates quickly
- Would have difficulty paying a remaining balance after a total loss
For example, your insurance company may pay the vehicle's actual cash value after a covered total loss, but that amount may be less than the balance remaining on your loan. GAP is designed to help address an eligible difference, subject to the terms and limitations of the agreement.
GAP does not replace automobile insurance and does not provide collision, comprehensive, liability, or property-damage coverage.

Helps keep scheduled vehicle service costs predictableA prepaid maintenance plan covers specified routine maintenance services during the selected term. Instead of paying separately for each covered visit, you purchase a defined schedule of eligible maintenance services in advance.
Depending on the plan selected, services may include:
- Engine oil and filter changes
- Tire rotations
- Multi-point inspections
- Brake inspections, cleaning, or adjustments
- Additional scheduled services listed in the agreement
Prepaying can help protect against future increases in labor and service costs while encouraging consistent maintenance according to the selected service schedule.
Available terms, mileage allowances, intervals, and covered services vary. Review the maintenance agreement for the exact schedule applicable to your vehicle.

Common Questions About Vehicle Protection Products
Who administers these protection products?
Melloy CJDR offers several optional protection products administered by Fidelity Warranty Services. Courtesy Guard theft-deterrent protection is offered through JM&A Group. The specific provider, administrator, obligor, or warrantor is identified in each individual agreement.
Can these products be included in my financing?
In many cases, eligible protection products may be included in vehicle financing so their cost is spread across the scheduled payments instead of being paid entirely upfront. Including a product in financing increases the total amount financed and may increase the total finance charge.
Are protection products required to receive financing?
No. Purchasing an optional vehicle protection product is not required to obtain financing, purchase a vehicle, or receive any advertised vehicle price.
Can a protection product be canceled?
Cancellation rights vary by product, state law, contract terms, elapsed time, and vehicle usage. Any refund may be reduced by an administrative fee, claims paid, time, or mileage. When a product is financed, an eligible refund may be sent to the finance company and applied to the loan balance rather than paid directly to the customer.
Is a vehicle service contract the same as a factory warranty?
No. A factory warranty is provided with the vehicle by its manufacturer. A vehicle service contract is optional protection purchased separately and is governed by its own terms, covered components, exclusions, limits, and deductible provisions.
Does GAP replace my automobile insurance?
No. GAP works in connection with the settlement provided by your primary automobile insurer after an eligible total loss. It does not provide liability, collision, comprehensive, medical-payment, or property-damage insurance.
Does Courtesy Guard guarantee that my vehicle will not be stolen?
No. Courtesy Guard is a theft-deterrent and vehicle-identification product. It does not guarantee theft prevention or vehicle recovery. Any theft benefit is subject to the Courtesy Guard limited warranty's eligibility requirements, exclusions, waiting period, limits, and claim procedures.
